Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism
Baptism is our joyful entry into the life of Christ and the community of His disciples. Through this sacrament, we are called—just as Jesus called His first followers—to share God’s love, proclaim the Good News, and continue Christ’s work in the world. In Baptism, sins are forgiven, we become children of God, members of Christ’s Body, and are united with all who follow Him. Water is poured three times as the minister proclaims, “[N], I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,” followed by an anointing with Sacred Chrism. (For adult Baptism, see OCIA.)
Baptism Preparation for Parents
Parents who wish to have their child baptized are required to attend a baptism preparation class, offered in English by either Deacon Stephen or Deacon Dave on the third Sunday of each month. Class will only be held if we have parents signed up. For Spanish classes, contact Father Orlando.
Pre-registration is required to attend the class.
Please note: A baptism date cannot be scheduled until the class has been completed.
