Parents who wish to have their child baptized are required to attend a baptism preparation class, offered in English by Deacon Stephen or Deacon Dave on the third Sunday of each month. Class will only be held if there are parents signed up.  For Spanish classes, email Father Orlando.

Pre-registration is required to attend the class. 

Please note: A baptism date cannot be scheduled until the class has been completed.

The following are requirements for Godparents or Sponsors.  Please see Deacon Stephen or Deacon Dave if you have questions or concerns about any of these.

Canonical Requirements (Canon Law 874.1)

• Be chosen by the candidate, parents, or parish priest and have the intention of fulfilling the role faithfully.
• Be at least 16 years old.
• Be a baptized Catholic who has received the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Confirmation.
• Must not be under any canonical penalty
• Cannot be the parent of the person being baptized or Confirmed.

Additional Requirements

• Must be a practicing Catholic who attends Mass regularly, be in good standing with the Church and living according to the teachings of the Church.
• Must be registered in a parish and actively participating in parish life.
• If married, the marriage must be recognized by the Church.
• Only one Godparent is required, but if two are chosen, then one must be male and one female.
• A baptized non-Catholic Christian can only serve as a Christian witness, not a Godparent or sponsor.
• Godparent / Sponsors must receive a Sponsor Certificate from the parish they are attending, confirming they meet all of these requirements.
